Chicken Caesar Wraps

Sharing is caring!

Jump to Recipe Jump to Video

These chicken Caesar wraps are one of my favorite quick lunches that’s easy to make at home and so satisfying! With just a few simple ingredients and about 5 minutes of prep time, you can have a delicious wrap that’s way better than anything you’d get dining out. What makes homemade Caesar wraps so great is that you can customize the proportions exactly how you like them, whether that’s adding extra chicken for more protein or using your favorite lower calorie dressing. They’re fresh, crunchy, and absolutely delicious!

Chicken Caesar wraps are always my go-to when I’m out for lunch and they’re on the menu. There’s something about that combination of crisp romaine, savory chicken, creamy Caesar dressing, and a soft tortilla that just hits the spot! But honestly, they’re so easy to make at home, and I actually prefer making them myself. I can add the proportions I like (more chicken to help me reach my daily protein goals), use a lower calorie dressing that I love, and if you’ve got your chicken made already, it just takes a few minutes to put together.

This recipe is for a single serving, but it’s incredibly easy to multiply if you’re making lunch for the whole family or meal prepping for the week (tips on meal prepping these below). I love using our crockpot shredded chicken for these wraps because it’s flavorful and delicious, but you have lots of chicken options (more on this in the ingredients section). Whether you’re looking for a quick lunch at home, packing something for work, or need an easy dinner option, this meal is always a winner!

Why You’ll Love This Easy Lunch Recipe

Ready in 5 minutes. Just toss everything together and wrap it up! No cooking required if you’re using pre-cooked chicken.

Better than takeout. Tastes fresher, costs less, and you can customize it exactly how you want it.

Works for any meal. Great for lunch at home, packing for work, or even a quick and easy dinner option.

Ingredients Needed for Chicken Caesar Salad Wraps

Ingredients needed to make a homemade chicken caesar wrap.
  • Cooked chicken. The protein base for your wrap! We like to use our crockpot shredded chicken breast or grilled chicken because they’re both a delicious and flavorful way to bulk prepare chicken for the week. You can also use rotisserie chicken or any other leftover chicken you have from another day (as long as it doesn’t have big opposing flavors on it). If you have chicken tenders or chicken nuggets in your freezer, I’m not going to stop you from making yourself a crispy chicken Caesar wrap!
  • Lettuce. Romaine or hearts of romaine give you the most crunch and that classic Caesar salad taste, but you can use whatever lettuce you like. I often use red or green leaf lettuce. Just keep in mind that softer lettuces, like butter lettuce, won’t have quite the same crisp texture.
  • Caesar dressing. Use your favorite brand (we like the Marzetti Simply dressings for a low calorie option that actually tastes good!) or a from-scratch homemade Caesar dressing (try my friend Ashlea’s recipe).
  • Parmesan cheese. Whether you prefer the large shavings, shreds, or grated, adding a high-quality Parmigiano-Reggiano is a must for a Caesar salad.
  • Large tortilla. Wrap or burrito size works best (we prefer whole wheat, whole grain, or low carb options).
  • Optional: a pinch of salt and/or black pepper. If you’re someone who salts your salads (I’ve had some great debates about this…), go ahead and add a little pinch in your salad wrap too!

Complete ingredient measurements and all recipe details can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of the page.

Assembling The Caesar Salad Wraps

Option 1: Toss the Salad Ingredients

This is my preferred method because the dressing gets distributed throughout the wrap and you don’t have any pockets of only one ingredient.

Add all filling ingredients to a bowl and toss the salad until everything is until well coated in the dressing.

Transfer the mixture into your tortilla. Place your large tortilla on a clean work surface or plate. Spoon the salad mixture into the center of the tortilla, leaving about 2 inches of space on each side.

Option 2: Layer Salad Ingredients (Best for Meal Prep)

If you’re meal prepping for multiple days or packing for lunch, storing items separately and assembling this way helps ensure you don’t have a soggy wrap come lunchtime.

Lay out your tortilla. Place your large tortilla on a clean work surface or plate. Begin layering the ingredients, starting with the lettuce. Place a generous amount of chopped lettuce in the center of the tortilla, leaving about 2 inches of space on each side.

Layer on the remaining ingredients. Top the lettuce with your cooked chicken, parmesan, and drizzle on the dressing.

For Both Options 1 and 2: Final Assembly & Enjoy!

Wrap it up. Fold in the sides of the tortilla, then roll from the bottom up, tucking as you go to create a tight wrap.

Tips For Serving And Storing

These are best enjoyed fresh! If packing for lunch (or prepping several for the week), store all the components separately and assemble when you’re ready to eat for the crispest results. If you need to assemble ahead of time, wrap tightly in foil or plastic wrap and keep in the fridge for up to 2 hours.

Pair your chicken Caesar wrap with fresh fruit, veggie sticks with hummus, or your favorite chips for a complete lunch!

Variations And Add-Ons

  • Add bacon. Crispy bacon pieces make these wraps even more delicious and add that classic bacon-Caesar combination.
  • Toss in halved cherry tomatoes. Add freshness and juicy bursts of flavor.
  • Add avocado. Sliced avocado adds creaminess and healthy fats.
  • Mix in different greens. If desired, do a combination of lettuce and spinach or chopped dinosaur kale (also called lacinato kale).
  • Use different tortillas. Try flavored wraps (like spinach or tomato basil), or even a low carb tortilla alternative.
  • Make it spicy. Add some red pepper flakes for a kick.
  • Add croutons. Generally the tortillas serve as a replacement for the croutons, but if you’d like a little extra crunch, toss some of your favorite croutons into your salad mix!

Chicken Caesar Wraps FAQs

Can I make these ahead of time?

You can prep all the ingredients ahead of time and store them separately, then assemble when you’re ready to eat. If you need to assemble these in advance, wrap them very tightly in plastic wrap and eat within a few hours. For best results, pack the dressing separately and add it right before eating.

What’s the best way to keep the wrap from getting soggy?

Don’t overdress the wrap, and make sure your lettuce is completely dry before assembling. If making ahead, pack the dressing separately. You can also create a “barrier” by placing the lettuce directly on the tortilla before adding wet ingredients like tomatoes and dressing.

How do I warm up the chicken without making the wrap hot?

If you want warm chicken but don’t want to heat the entire wrap, warm just the chicken separately in the microwave for 30 to 60 seconds before assembling the wrap with cold lettuce and dressing.

Conclusion And Enjoying Your Wraps

These chicken Caesar wraps are proof that delicious lunches don’t have to be complicated! With just a few simple ingredients and minimal prep time, you can create a satisfying meal that’s way better than takeout. The best part is customizing them exactly how you like them, so don’t be afraid to experiment with different proportions and add-ons until you find your ideal combination. Enjoy!

Notes

*If desired, add more chicken for additional protein! The best part of making these at home is that you can customize the proportions to your liking.
*You have a lot of chicken options, but the key to making this quick is to have cooked chicken on hand. We’re showing this made with grilled chicken, but we also like to bulk prepare and use our crockpot shredded chicken breast. Rotisserie chicken is another great option, but you can also use any other leftover chicken you have from another day (that doesn’t have big opposing flavors on it). If you have chicken tenders or chicken nuggets in your freezer, I’m not going to stop you from cooking up or air-frying some to make yourself a crispy chicken Caesar wrap!
For the best texture and to avoid a soggy tortilla, enjoy fresh! However, you can assemble up to 2-hours ahead of time by wrapping the wrap tightly in aluminum foil or plastic wrap and storing in the fridge.
Variations And Add-Ons
  • Add bacon. Crispy bacon pieces taste great in this wrap too!
  • Try different tortillas. Whole wheat, whole grain, low carb, flavored wraps (like spinach or tomato basil), etc.
  • Give it a little kick of spice with a shake of red pepper flakes.
  • Add croutons. Generally the tortillas serve as a replacement for the croutons, but if you’d like a little extra crunch, toss some of your favorite croutons in too.
Nutrition calculation: please note, this could vary widely based on the type of chicken (breast vs. thigh), brand of dressing, and type of tortilla (flour, whole wheat, low carb) used. The numbers here are calculated with a flour tortilla, cooked chicken breast, and a shelf-stable / standard Caesar dressing as a starting point.
