I love good mocktail recipes, especially when they can highlight fun seasonal ingredients like fresh apple cider! My husband and I have really enjoyed playing around with craft cocktail making at home over the past 10 years, but non-alcoholic drink recipes started showing up in our trials when we were looking to start a family .

This non alcoholic apple cider drink recipe has a similar feel to our apple cider Kentucky mule recipe. It’s a nice mix of sweet and spicy, and the perfect fall recipe that the whole family can enjoy!

What is a Mocktail?

Mocktails are specialty non-alcoholic drinks. Sometimes they are non-alcoholic versions of cocktails, and sometimes they are fun drink recipes all on their own. Mocktails are great for those wishing to abstain from alcohol, for kids, and for pregnant women.

Make the spiced sugar mixture by combining granulated sugar and pumpkin pie spice in a small mixing bowl.

Rim your drink glass by dipping your finger in water and running it along the edge of the glass. Gently dip the glass into the spiced sugar mixture.

Mix together equal parts apple cider and ginger beer and pour into the rimmed glass.

Option to garnish your mocktail with apple slices or a cinnamon stick, and enjoy!

How to Serve a Sparkling Apple Cider Mocktail

Make this apple cider mocktail feel fancy by serving it in a special glass and rimmed with the spiced sugar mixture! I recommend using a coupe glass or martini glass, but if you’re serving this to a littler kiddo selecting a glass they can’t break is more important.

Sparkling Cider Mocktail FAQs

What if I don’t have pumpkin pie spice for the rim?

No problem. If you do not have pumpkin pie spice, you could use cinnamon instead! This will still create a fun spiced sugar rim to compliment the apple cider and ginger beer mocktail.

Can I use apple juice instead of apple cider?

If you’re in a bind, you could substitute apple juice for the apple cider in this recipe. If possible, use an unsweetened apple juice.

What if I want to make my mocktail sweeter?

If you need a little extra sweetness in your mocktail, you could add a splash of simple syrup or maple syrup (start with ½ teaspoon and add more to taste).
