If you’re like me, cold coffee drinks are a must when the weather is warm. Along with our DIY iced chocolate almond milk shaken espresso, vanilla cold foam cold brew, and iced brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso, this homemade honey almond milk cold brew recipe is on near constant rotation during the summer.

Like all our homemade coffee recipes, another reason to love this Starbucks copycat recipe is that making your own iced coffees at home is a great way to save money and still enjoy a high-quality specialty coffee (that may be even better than the real thing!). So give this delicious drink a try. It’s sure to be love at first sip.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Quick and easy to make. Simple measure, stir, and enjoy!

Natural sweetness. We’re using homemade honey simple syrup to sweeten our honey bee cold brew. This honey mixture is made in just just 10 minutes with simple ingredients (just honey and water!) and then can be stored in the fridge and used for weeks.

Cost effective. In addition to skipping the lines at your local coffee shop, you can get a delicious coffee drink for a fraction of the cost by making it at home!

Easy to adjust to your preferred sweetness level. One of the great things about being your own barista is that you can decide how much honey syrup you like to and adjust the ingredient quantities to your own taste.

Ingredients Needed to Make a Honey Almond Milk Cold Brew at Home

Ingredients needed to make a starbucks honey almond milk cold brew recipe.

Cold Brew Coffee. You can used homemade cold brew concentrate or store bought, both work great!

Honey Simple Syrup. Simple syrups are often used in cold drinks because they don’t leave a grainy texture in your beverage. When sweet honey gets cold, it gets a little globby… so we’re using honey simple syrup for our homemade cold brew drink!

Unsweetened Almond Milk. We’re using plain almond milk for our recipe, because we’re getting the sweetness from the honey!

Ice cubes. You can’t have an iced coffee without ice!

See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

Honey Almond Milk Cold Brew Variations

  • Use sweetened almond milk. Replace unsweetened almond milk with sweetened almond milk if you prefer a sweeter drink!
  • Try a different milk. While almond milk is how this drink was originally served at Starbucks, you can really use your milk of choice for this drink. This specialty cold brew tastes great with dairy milk, or you can try other non-dairy milk alternatives like oat milk, soy milk, or coconut milk too.
  • Use coffee ice cubes to give you an extra caffeine boost.

Possible Dietary Restrictions?

This honey almond milk cold brew recipe is already gluten free, dairy free, and vegetarian as written!

  • Note: If you are making this recipe for someone with celiac disease, make sure to select an almond milk brand that is certified as gluten free. While almond milk is naturally gluten free, it may be cross-contaminated depending on how it is processed.
  • As honey is not an acceptable sweetener for vegans, to make this recipe vegan you could swap out the honey for pure maple syrup or agave. Please note that making this substitution will result in an iced cold brew latte that really isn’t a copycat of the honey almond milk cold brew from Starbucks anymore since honey is a main player in the original recipe. But it will still be a great summer coffee drink to enjoy!

Honey Almond Milk Cold Brew Recipe FAQs

Can I make cold brew coffee at home? Yes! I’ve made a guide on how to make homemade cold brew coffee that walks you through what the best cold brew ratio is, the type of grind you need, ways you can brew your cold brew, how long to brew cold brew, and more!

Is decaf cold brew a thing? If you make your own cold brew coffee at home, decaf cold brew can be a thing! I love making decaf cold brew so that I can sip on delicious coffee drinks all day long when it’s hot out. Making decaf cold brew is also a great option if you have a friend or family member who is pregnant or is sensitive to caffeine.

What is the best store-bought cold brew coffee? While this is subjective, I personally like the Stok Coffee cold brews myself (their Un-Sweet Cold Brew is my favorite). The store-bought Starbucks cold brew is another popular option. But there are a wide variety of commercial cold brews you can buy. I recommend trying a few different brands out to find your favorite!

Can I just put regular honey in my cold brew coffee latte? You can, but since the drink is cold the honey will not dissolve to blend into your drink. This can result in “globs” of honey at random times as you sip on your drink. If you didn’t have time to make honey simple syrup before you plan to make this drink, I’d recommend dissolving the honey with a little hot water to give yourself a better drink experience. You can do this by adding ¾ tablespoon of honey to ¾ tablespoon of hot water into a small bowl and mixing until dissolved.

Serving Suggestions

Serve your drink in a tall glass, like a highball glass or tall juice glass. You could also serve this up in a large mason jar!

I also recommend using reusable straws when you can because they’re a better option for the environment.
