A pumpkin spice White Russian cocktail is a fun fall twist on a classic White Russian cocktail. Made with coffee liqueur, vodka, and pumpkin spice coffee creamer, this recipe couldn’t be easier! Bursting with lovely seasonal flavors, this is sure to be one of your new favorite fall cocktails.

This pumpkin spice white Russian brings together the cozy warmth of fall spices with the smooth, boozy comfort of a classic White Russian. Made with just coffee liqueur, vodka, and pumpkin spice creamer, this seasonal cocktail delivers rich pumpkin and warm spice flavors in every sip. What sets our version apart is the option to use homemade pumpkin creamer that transforms this simple three-ingredient drink into something truly special for autumn entertaining.

Fall happens to be my favorite season, and over the past 4 years I’ve developed more than 40 cocktail recipes for this blog, always focusing on drinks that are both approachable and delicious. I have a particular soft spot for classic cocktails that remind me of simpler times, and the White Russian definitely falls into that category. Through extensive testing and recipe development, I’ve learned that the key to elevating this retro favorite lies in choosing the right creamer and balancing those warm spices just right.

What makes this recipe especially appealing is how effortlessly it comes together without any special equipment or complicated techniques. The homemade pumpkin creamer option (made with real pumpkin puree, warming spices, and just the right amount of sweetness) takes this drink from good to exceptional, but even using store-bought pumpkin spice creamer creates a delightful fall cocktail that tastes like an iced pumpkin spice latte with a boozy kick.

Why You’ll Love this Pumpkin Spice White Russian Recipe

The pumpkin spice version of a classic! If you’re into pumpkin spice and everything nice this time of year, this is going to be one of your new favorite cocktails!

Minimal, simple ingredients. This recipe uses three ingredients (four if you count ice).

Perfect for fall parties. Seasonal cocktails are always a fun add to any party. Why not have this as an option at your Halloween party or serve this up as a specialty Thanksgiving cocktail?

Pumpkin White Russian Ingredients

ingredients needed to make a pumpkin spice white russian.
  • Coffee liqueur. Coffee liqueur, like Kahlua, is a must for a White Russian! This type of liqueur is rich, sweet, and has a bold coffee flavor.
  • Vodka. Another must for any White Russian recipe.
  • Pumpkin Spice Creamer. Using pumpkin creamer is what adds that perfect pumpkin flavor to this pumpkin spice White Russian recipe. I like use to homemade pumpkin coffee creamer, but you can definitely use store-bought if preferred.
  • Ice. Ice cubes are used for mixing, and this drink is also served over ice in an old fashioned glass (also know as a low ball glass or rocks glasses).

See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

Equipment

All you need for this recipe is a way to measure your ingredients, a serving glass, and a spoon! I recommend a simple jigger to measuring and a cute bar spoon is always nice too.

Pumpkin Spice White Russians Variations

  • Use vanilla vodka. If you tend to keep vanilla vodka in your liquor cabinet, it’s a great substitution for plain vodka in this pumpkin cocktail recipe.
  • Try pumpkin vodka. If you love trying all of the novelty vodka flavors, you could definitely replace the plain vodka with pumpkin spice vodka if you’d like! This isn’t my jam, but I believe it could work.
  • Add a little whipped cream and more spices on top. I mean, how could a little whipped cream and sprinkled of pumpkin pie spice hurt on top of this?!

What to Serve with a Pumpkin Spice Cocktail

A classic white Russian can be considered a dessert drink, making this version a fun fall dessert drink to pair with yummy sweet treats. Try it with fall desserts like pumpkin pie bars, pumpkin squares with cream cheese frosting, snickerdoodles, caramel apples, or pecan pie.

With it’s coffee-flavor base, it’s also a fun option for a brunch cocktail. Try serving it alongside French toast, pumpkin waffles, pumpkin pancakes, apple cider donuts, pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, or cinnamon chip scones.

Pumpkin White Russian Recipe FAQs

What is a White Russian made of?

A classic White Russian is made with vodka, coffee liqueur, and heavy cream. It’s served over ice in a rocks glass.

Why is White Russian so popular?

While the White Russian was invented in the 1950s, it became popular thanks to the 1998 cult classic ‘The Big Lebowski’. In this movie the main character, Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski, has the White Russian as his drink of choice and it is featured prominently throughout the film.
