This fresh peach daiquiri recipe elevates the a classic daiquiri with vibrant peach flavor in every sip! Unlike frozen versions or pre-made mixes loaded with artificial flavors, this sophisticated summer cocktail uses homemade peach syrup balanced with fresh lime juice and quality white rum for a lovely and refreshing drink.
My husband and I have been honing our home bartending skills together for over 15 years. We’ve learned through hundreds of tastings that truly great cocktails come down understanding what each ingredient brings to the table so all the ingredients come together in the right balance, highlighting the flavor(s) of choice.
This peach daiquiri represents everything we’ve learned about creating exceptional cocktail recipes at home. Using homemade peach syrup instead of artificial mixes or a store-bought syrup bring pure, concentrated peach flavor to your drink. And the classic 2:1:1 ratio creates a beautifully balanced drink that isn’t too tart or too sweet… it’s just right.
What is a Daiquiri?
The traditional daiquiri was created in Cuba in the early 1900s, made with just three simple ingredients: white rum, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup. Named after a beach near Santiago de Cuba, this refreshing drink was created for hot Caribbean days.
The classic daiquiri is a shaken cocktail served straight up in a coupe or martini glass, creating a smooth, sophisticated drink that showcases the rum’s character. This is quite different from the frozen, blended versions (like our frozen strawberry daiquiris) that are popular at beach bars.
Our peach version honors the traditional daiquiri’s elegant simplicity while adding natural fruit flavor through a quick and easy homemade peach syrup.
Ingredients for Making Peach Daiquiris
- White rum. Also called light rum or silver rum, is the base of our cocktail. White rum’s light body and subtle sweetness provides a clean, neutral base that allows the peach and lime flavors to shine through.
- Fresh lime juice. Used for balance and brightness, fresh-squeezed lime juice is a must! Bottled lime juice just can’t compete with the bright, zesty punch that fresh lime brings to this cocktail because it doesn’t have the same level of citrus oils and acidity that fresh-lime juice has.
- Peach syrup. The star ingredient that sets this apart from a classic daiquiri! Homemade peach syrup delivers concentrated fruit flavor and is super easy to make too!
- Ice. Used for shaking, ice is needed for proper dilution and keep your drink cool.
- (Optional) garnish. We love using fresh peach slices in this drink to help showcase the drink’s peach flavor. However, you can also use a lime wheel if desired.
See the recipe card at the bottom of the page for all measurements and instructions.
How to Make Peach Daiquiris
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice.
Cap the shaker tightly and shake vigorously (about 15-seconds) until the outside of the shaker is very cold.
Strain the cocktail into a chilled glass to serve it ‘straight up’ (or if you didn’t remember to chill your glasses, serve it with a little ice, it’ll still be a delight).
Garnish with peach slices or a lime wheel, sip, and enjoy!
Variation Ideas
- Frozen Peach Daiquiri. If you love a blended drink, add all ingredients plus 1-2 cups of frozen peaches into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Like our frozen strawberry daiquiris, strawberry peach frosé, and cherry frosé, we recommend using frozen fruit to keep your blended cocktail cold instead of ice. It adds more flavor (and a little nutrition) and doesn’t water down your drink, that’s a win-win! Serve in a hurricane glass with a fun straw and/or drink umbrella.
- Spiced Peach Daiquiri. Substitute spiced rum one-for-one with the white rum noted to add warming notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg that complement the peach flavor beautifully.
- Virgin Peach Daiquiri. Omit the rum and top your drink with 2 oz of sparkling water or ginger ale for a refreshing mocktail that’s great for designated drivers or non-drinkers.
- Peach Bellini Daiquiri. Add a splash of prosecco after straining for a bubbly twist that bridges the gap between a daiquiri and a bellini and a spritz cocktail.
What Kind of Rum is Used for Daiquiris?
White rum, also called silver or light rum, is the traditional choice for daiquiris because of its clean, neutral flavor profile that doesn’t overpower the other ingredients. For the best results, choose a high-quality white rum. We’re showing Plantation 3 Stars white rum, but other notable high-quality brands include Bacardi, Mount Gay, Havana Club, or Flor de Caña.
Avoid flavored rums, which can clash with the peach flavor and create an overly sweet cocktail. Dark or aged rums can work in a pinch, but they’ll create a different drinking experience with more molasses and spice notes that may overpower the peach flavor.
Peach Daiquiri FAQs
Yes! You can substitute the peach syrup with a combination of ½ ounce simple syrup plus 3-4 muddled fresh peach slices. This is a similar method to our highly-rated peach bourbon smash recipe!
To reduce sweetness, start with ¾ ounces of the peach syrup. Optionally add a little more lime juice too to taste.
For a sweeter version, increase the peach syrup to 1 + ¼ ounces as a starting point and adjust to your liking.
Yes! To do so, add the liquid ingredients (no ice) to a pitcher, give it a stir, and store it in the refrigerator for up to 4 hours. Give the cocktail ingredients another stir before using. When ready to serve, fill a cocktail shaker with ice, add about 4 ounces of the mixture per drink, and shake vigorously. Strain into chilled glasses and enjoy!
Everyone will have different pitcher sizes, but for a pitcher of 8 servings, add 16 ounces of white rum, 8 ounces of fresh lime juice, and 8 ounces of peach syrup.
A large mason jar with a tight-fitting lid or even a blender bottle make a good substitute! Just make sure whatever you use can be sealed tightly for vigorous shaking.
Homemade peach syrup will keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks when stored in an airtight container. Always give your syrup a check before using. If it smells off or has any fizzy (or fuzzy) texture, discard it and make fresh syrup.
