Fall is my favorite season. I love the cooler weather, getting cozy in a big sweatshirt, and the warm fall spices and flavors that come along with the season. I love making fall recipes of all kinds, but there’s just something about pumpkin that is quintessential to the season for me.

If you’ve been around for a while, you’ll also know that coffee is a way of life for me. While I’d love to go grab a fancy coffee drink everyday, that just isn’t feasible for my schedule or my budget. You’ll find all kinds of DIY coffee recipes on my site because of this. And it was time to finally get the ever popular PSL added to our at home coffee library.

If you love pumpkin coffees, be sure to try our homemade Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew and homemade Pumpkin Coffee Creamer recipes too!

And sip your PSL alongside a homemade pumpkin muffin with streusel topping or pumpkin waffles for the ultimate fall morning!

Why You’ll Love Our Pumpkin Spice Latte Drink Recipe

Easy and delicious. Making a coffee shop worthy PSL is so easy! And using a homemade pumpkin spice syrup takes your drink to the next level because it uses real pumpkin (no artificial flavors for us!).

Cost effective! One PSL from Starbucks will run you $7+, which adds up fast if you’re hoping to enjoy them frequently. Making them at home using pantry and fridge staples is a great way to save money (and again, they just taste so much better).

No lines. Why wait in line at Starbucks when you can make an even yummier version at home? In a short amount of time. Whenever you want. Seems like a no brainer to me!

Pumpkin Spice Latte Ingredients

Ingredients for making a homemade pumpkin spice latte.

Pumpkin Syrup. Our homemade pumpkin spice coffee syrup is the best, and so easy to make too! Our DIY syrup uses 100% pure pumpkin puree, brown sugar, white sugar, vanilla extract, and warm fall spices to create the perfect fall syrup for your PSL.

  • If preferred, you can uses a store bought syrup like Monin Pumpkin Spice Syrup or Torani Pumpkin Spice Syrup too.

Espresso (or Strongly Brewed Coffee). Espresso is the traditional option for a latte, but don’t worry if you don’t have a way to make espresso at home. You can use strongly brewed coffee too!

Milk of Choice. I like to use 2% or whole dairy milk in my lattes. If dairy isn’t a part of your diet, I recommend oat milk for coffee drinks! You can also use your favorite non-dairy milk of choice like almond milk, soy milk, or coconut milk.

Optional toppings such as whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice.

Prefer a Cold Pumpkin Spice Latte? Make it Iced!

If it’s warm where you are but you need a fall flavor fix, enjoying an iced pumpkin spice latte is a great option! Simply fill a tall glass with ice, and then pour your latte ingredients over the ice, stir, and enjoy!

For best results, give your espresso (or coffee) a little bit to cool down before pouring over the ice. This ensures your ice doesn’t melt too fast so you have a nice cold drink to enjoy!

Have a Little Extra Fun and Make it into a Pumpkin Spice Latte Frappuccino

Another fun way to enjoy a cold pumpkin spice latte is as a frappuccino! Simply add all latte ingredients, reducing the amount of milk to ½ Cup, plus 1 cup of ice to a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Top with whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice to enjoy.
